Features Overview
As you're getting ready for the big day, there are a few things to keep in mind to make sure everything runs smoothly and you feel relaxed and beautiful.
First, let's talk about your bridal makeup. It's important to have a trial run with your makeup artist before the wedding so you can make sure you're happy with the look and feel of your makeup. Make sure to bring any specific photos or inspiration you have for your look, as well as any makeup or skincare products you love or can't live without. On the day of the wedding, make sure to give yourself enough time to get ready so you're not feeling rushed or stressed.
Next, let's talk about the room where you'll be getting ready. Make sure to keep the room clean and tidy so you're not feeling overwhelmed by clutter. Having natural light in the room is also a great idea, as it will make you look and feel your best in your portraits.
In terms of accessories, make sure you have all the right pieces to complete your look. This includes your wedding ring, earrings, necklace, and any other jewelry you want to wear. You'll also want to have your veil, headpiece, and shoes on hand.
Finally, make sure you build your timeline correctly so you can feel relaxed and in control throughout the day. This means giving yourself enough time to get ready and take your portraits, as well as making sure you have enough time to relax and enjoy the moment before the ceremony.
Overall, remember to take a deep breath and enjoy the process! You're about to marry the love of your life, and you deserve to feel beautiful, relaxed, and happy on your big day.
Before your Wedding Day
I’d recommend having a trial run with your makeup artist before the wedding so you can make sure you're happy with the look and feel of your makeup. Make sure to bring any specific photos or inspiration you have for your look, as well as any makeup or skincare products you love or can't live without. On the day of the wedding, make sure to give yourself enough time to get ready so you're not feeling rushed or stressed.
I always say to focus on skincare months before your wedding day. I have rosacea so my skin is highly sensitive and whack. I’m not a doctor, but a dermatologist can absolutely help. However, this is what I use: affordable Cera-Ve kit and a custom Proven Skincare system.
Have a Clean room with a lot of natural light
Make sure to keep the room clean and tidy so you're not feeling overwhelmed by clutter. Having natural light in the room is also a great idea, as it will make you look and feel your best in your portraits.
Natural light is super flattering. It's soft and even, so it doesn't create harsh shadows or make you look all uneven. That's why you always look better in photos taken outside on a sunny day, right? Since we aren’t getting ready outside (probably) then we need a getting-ready room with light pouring through the windows. Natural light is that it changes throughout the day, giving you different moods and tones to play with. This can make your photos look warm and intimate, or dramatic and moody, depending on the time of day. It is just better for color in general. It's generally warmer and more neutral, which makes all the colors in your photos pop. A
Whatever color the room is, that’ll be the color that fills in the shadows and tints the tone of your skin. That’s why I’ll turn off all artifical lighting prior to photos, so you can look your best.
Accessories & Potential Moments
In terms of accessories, make sure you have all the right pieces to complete your look. This includes your wedding ring, earrings, necklace, and any other jewelry you want to wear. You'll also want to have your veil, headpiece, ring box , and shoes on hand. I have another list of my other wedding “must-haves” if you’re interested.
If details are important to you, please give me time to photograph them. Beautiful flatlays (pictured next to this text) can take me 10-20 minutes, so if you love the story-telling element of building details, then include more of it in your timeline!
I encourage you to think of ways to have special moments with your people while you get ready. That could be handwritten notes, prayer time, a dance-off, shots, etc. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in any potential stress, so take a moment
Your Bridesmaids
Robes or PJs? Honestly, i’d say PJ’s. they will wear them again, and they are more flattering than slinky silky robes.
