Alpine Lake Couples Session in Leadville, CO

Bhavya and Liam travel a lot from New Mexico, and when they found me on Instagram this past summer, there was that instant connection. When we couldn’t acquire a permit for Maroon Bells, I chose the next best location in Leadville, CO. This lake surrounded by 14ers is breathtaking. Bhavya is from India and loves the alpine terrain in Colorado, so we explored the lake surround and hiked a little bit into the hills of Mt. Elbert. They brought their adorable puppy to play and sniff all the smells too! Fun fact, a couple of weeks later, Liam proposed! I am photographing their engagement session in a week too, so of course, I will share some of that winter magic! We arrived to find ourselves basically alone with this massive lake, and while it started off sunny, we got hit with some of that summer-in-Colorado-afternoon-thunderstorms. It poured rain for 20 minutes, so we waited it out in our cars. Once it passed, we continued in the trees for some moody PNW vibes and back to the lake when the sun was hitting the mountains in the most epic way imaginable. Truly some of the prettiest photos I have taken, and sights I have ever experienced.

If you are going to ever travel to Colorado, I highly recommend the Leadville region. Hardly anybody is there and I find it to be just as beautiful as the highly-visited Breckenridge region. Enjoy their totally private couples session with this massive lake all to themselves!
