Year in Review: 2019

Change. This year can be summarized as a year of change.

Our word for 2019 is Change. Every time we meet new people - or former clients - there’s a sense of change in their lives. We witness the most pivotal moments of their lives, and I don’t think there’s a single job in the world that captures that gravity. It was also a year for change for us, as well, because in February, we found out that we were moving from Texas. That meant we had to uproot our lives and social sphere, replant for Joe’s job, and try to restart our business in a new state. In May, we found out we were moving to Colorado, and three weeks later we made Colorado Springs our home. The adjustment has been hard, but we both found that it gave us a refreshed perspective on how to love our friends, family, and clients better. Change has allowed us to adapt to new conditions mentally, and teach us what it is means to pursue our dream!

We’ve had an incredible year, and truly had some of the most epic weddings (either physically, emotionally, or spiritually) ever, and our couples have been SO loving and kind people. It was also a year that couples from weddings from 2016-2018 hired us again for their family portraits, maternity shoots, or even their siblings’ weddings! The photos below are certainly more memory-based - think of it as an album I’ve made to remember the good times ten years from now. After I created this blog, I realized I had way more emotional and compositional images versus standard or technical images, and that may be a good way to sum up our 2019. We had a very emotional year, and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

Our goals for 2020:
+ To book at least 12 weddings/elopements in the year (we are almost halfway there, but we sorta need 12!)
+ Joe can breach the DJ and/or Officiating market locally.
+ Become a staple in the Colorado Springs market, and cultivate a vendor community that isn’t so competitive: there is value in a strong wedding community.
+ More family sessions, preferably 6 or more sessions.
+ To not lose faith when it’s tough to start from the very beginning again - our business is worth every ounce of effort put into it. supporting marriages is worth it.

We pray that 2020 will be a year of growth for our business, as we try to become pillars in the Colorado Springs area for weddings. If you feel up to it, could you pray or send positive thoughts our way as we make our way in a very competitive market? We love our community in Texas, and we want it to grow into Colorado as well. We freaking love our jobs so much, so regardless of the future, if we’ve been a part of your story at all, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You’re the reason we love what we do, and we want to give you the biggest virtual hug imaginable!

To a bright year ahead full of faith & growth, cheers! xx
